Meet the founder
I’m Jonas Wallmann, the founder and designer behind Stuga Design.
Stuga Design was born from a fascination with natural materials, sculptural forms and the atmosphere that light can create within a space. What started as an idea quickly became a passion for creating objects that sit somewhere between functional lighting and art.
Every piece begins with the material itself. I work closely with the natural shape, grain and character of the wood rather than trying to hide its imperfections. Through carving, shaping and countless hours of craftsmanship, each piece slowly develops its own identity.
My inspiration comes from architecture, nature, Scandinavian design and the quiet simplicity of the Nordic landscape. Especially Sweden has strongly influenced the philosophy behind Stuga Design: natural materials, honest craftsmanship and objects that are designed to last.
For me, a lamp should do more than illuminate a room.
It should create atmosphere.
It should have presence.
And it should feel like a piece of art even when the light is turned off.
That philosophy is at the heart of every Stuga Design light sculpture.
